Post Pregnancy Diet Plans

If you just had a baby, then first of all a huge congratulations to you! But even if you are just trying to conceive, it is crucial that you are taking good care of your health. And this not only includes keeping a check on your health before and during your pregnancy, but also includes taking good care of yourself post pregnancy.

While it goes without saying that you should always check with your doctor to make sure that you are doing well after your pregnancy, making the right lifestyle changes is definitely in your own hands. And one of much more important things to consider post pregnancy is your diet. This is highly crucial for not only your health but also your baby’s health.

After giving birth, your body definitely needs to recover and will need proper nutrition for the same. More importantly, being a nursing mother, you will need to check your diet and health even more to ensure the proper growth and health of your baby as well. Therefore, you need to plan one yourself or consult a dietician for your post pregnancy health.

Whether you are planning for the future or just had a baby, some of you might wonder about the importance of a healthy diet post pregnancy. Before anything else, the right diet for post pregnancy will first help you with your nutritional intake. As you know, the human body needs various nutrients like proteins, carbs, fats, vitamins, minerals, and more on a daily basis. And when your body is going through repair and recovery after pregnancy, you will need it even more.

Hence, a healthy diet for post pregnancy will ensure that you have all the nutrients that your body needs. In fact, it will offer these nutrients in excess to ensure that you are not deficient in any of such nutrients. And the only way to do this is to switch to healthier food options which are the key components of any healthy diet for post pregnancy. Such a whole nutrition diet is exactly what you need for ensuring good health post pregnancy.

Speaking of nutrients, after your pregnancy, it is not only you who will need a good amount of nutrients. Since you will be a nursing mother and your baby will depend on you for nutrition for the first few months, it is highly important to ensure that your baby is getting all the important nutrients for your baby’s proper growth. This will ensure a healthy childhood for your baby as she or he grows up.

And the only way to ensure proper nutrition for your baby as a nursing mother is to eat a whole nutrition diet yourself. This is the only way that you will be able to offer the required nutrition to your child but you will be assured that you are not running into any nutritional deficiency as a nursing mother. Since nursing a baby takes a toll on your body, you need to compensate for the same by switching to a whole nutrition and healthy diet for post pregnancy.

Apart from running into nutritional deficiencies, a lot of new mothers will also run into weight gain issues post pregnancy. This generally happens from preventing nutritional deficiencies in the first place. Since you will want to ensure that you are getting all the proper nutrients, you may add extra meals or food in your diet. Unfortunately, depending on the type of food that you add, this may put in you a calorie surplus.

If you are not familiar with a calorie surplus, it simply means eating more calories than your TDEE of your daily energy requirement. Let’s say that your body needs 2000 calories in a day for all daily activities including nursing a baby, then eating 2500 calories or even 3000 calories will put you in a calorie surplus.

Because this gives your body more energy than you need, your body ends up storing this additional energy in the form of fat. As a result, if you are eating additional calories and being in a calorie surplus, you will definitely face weight gain issues. And the last thing you would want as a new mother is to worry about your weight when you should be taking care of your baby instead.

Therefore, the diet for post pregnancy will also help you with your nutrition intake and your weight as well. Whether you already have gained weight or you want to prevent the same, the right post pregnancy will help you with the same. Starting with maintaining your current weight, the right post pregnancy diet will put in you a calorie maintenance diet. More importantly, it will do so while having additional calories in a limit to ensure that you can nurse your baby without any issues.

Similarly, if you want to lose weight after pregnancy, it is recommended to do the same at a slower rate. Being a nursing mother, it is highly important that you are keeping your growing child’s health as a priority instead of losing weight quickly. Keeping the same in mind, even if you are on a calorie deficit diet, it will be a slight calorie deficit diet.

This means that even if you are eating fewer calories than your TDEE, the calorie difference is only going to be a slight one. Similar to being on a calorie maintenance diet for post pregnancy, a calorie deficit for post pregnancy will also keep in mind that you are a nursing mother.

And since all of these are highly important factors, I keep all of these in mind while planning my diets for nursing mothers. You can easily lose or maintain weight after your pregnancy by following a well planned diet like this. More importantly, being a whole nutrition diet, such a diet will also ensure that both you and your child are getting all the right nutrients. Last but not least, all my post pregnancy diets are easy to cook so that you can focus on being a mother instead of spending time in the kitchen for your diet.
